Publications
Duck Living: Fall Edition
As a part of the Emerald Media Group, located at the Erb Memorial Union at the University of Oregon, I have worked on layouts of multiple publications. I created my first printed work in Duck Living, a housing guide and article-based publication with plenty of layout opportunity and creative freedom.
Green Eugene: Harvest Edition
Outside my original team, I was able to add my work to a publication just a few days before printing. As a last-minute layout, I helped create a spread with multiple graphics (by Dani DeGraw) and a text-heavy written piece.
Chews & Brews: Fall Edition
For this publication, I was given the chance to split the layout work in half. Alongside my co-worker Mia Lee, I was able to create a more business-related and corporate look than I have previously done. I enjoyed working with the photos, graphics, and articles to arrange them in an appealing way.
Holiday Gift Guide
This was the first newspaper-printed guide that I got the chance to work on. With new page sizes, different information, and a completely different task than most of my layouts thus far, there was a challenge. This publication gave me a lot pre-made content, but a lot of it was information and layout that was set in stone from the beginning.
Chews & Brews: Winter Edition
At the time of this publication, I have been placed as Lead Designer in all Special Sections. This was the first of those designs and is not limited to delegating, creating, and editing all aspects of the design. Winter Chews & Brews was a difficult publication, as many deadlines were not met timely, and much of the work was done later than both Editor and myself had hoped.
Health & Wellness Guide: March 2023
This guide was my first on-my-own newspaper print publication. Aside from the original layout, I also got the privilege of editing photos, placing ads, and completing design control. All of this publication was created, edited, and fully put together by myself. With no graphics in this edition, there was no other Designer on this team.
Green Eugene: 4/20 Edition
Although not part of the team, this edition and layout work was needed at the last moment. In the print world, many of the writing pieces or information we get are last-minute. This layout specifically was put together the night before being sent to print as the story got finished. It was one of the favorites in this edition.
Duck Living: April Edition
This Duck Living edition was one of the first I took on as a lead designer. For this project, I had full control of dividing work amongst other designers, putting together the file, and editing all photos that went to print. It is one of my favorite editions with very interesting stories.
Green Eugene: Pride Edition
Similar to the 4/20 edition, this was one of those layouts that needed to be done just before print. This edition has been one of the most popular this year, and the last. I really enjoyed helping put this together late at night with the lead designer, Dani DeGraw.
25 Ducks: Winner’s guide
This assignment was given to me as a side-project. As part of special sections, I had the chance to work on more than just magazine publications. Although this layout was very straight forward, getting and laying out this information was not. It was enjoyable to make this unique project for students to be recognized by many.
Duck Living: June Edition
This is the last publication I had the wonderful opportunity to work on. I really enjoyed this edition because I was able to share my skills and growth with the co-lead designer, Lindsay Rogers. We shared the selection of stories and divided the work. Not only did I have a chance to work on fewer layouts, but also got to help change, edit, revise, and grow with next year’s Special Sections designer.
This edition has unlabeled, but shared efforts, of layouts done by myself amongst others.
